Cable Protection Systems supplied by Tekmar helping safeguard critical subsea infrastructure at Hollandse Kust West

Tekmar is proud to have supported the successful delivery of Hollandse Kust West, following confirmation that the flagship Dutch offshore wind farm has achieved first power.

Located approximately 53km off the Dutch coast, the 760MW offshore wind farm represents one of the Netherlands’ most advanced renewable energy developments. Once fully operational, the project will generate enough renewable electricity to power more than one million homes while contributing significantly to Europe’s energy transition.

As part of the project, Tekmar designed and manufactured Cable Protection Systems (CPS) that safeguard critical subsea power cables as they transition from the seabed into the foundations of the offshore wind turbines.

Cable Protection Systems play a vital role in protecting dynamic sections of subsea cables from bending, abrasion and fatigue during installation and throughout the operational life of the wind farm. By reducing mechanical stresses at these critical interfaces, the systems help maximise long-term asset reliability while reducing operational risk.

The achievement of first power marks another important milestone for the project and adds to Tekmar’s extensive offshore wind track record.

With more than 12,000 Cable Protection Systems supplied across over 120 offshore projects in more than 25 countries, Tekmar continues to support developers, contractors and OEMs in delivering reliable offshore infrastructure around the world. Collectively, Tekmar solutions have helped protect more than 50GW of installed offshore wind capacity.

Supporting Europe’s offshore wind ambitions

As offshore wind projects continue to increase in both size and complexity, protecting critical subsea infrastructure has never been more important.

Tekmar’s Cable Protection Systems are engineered to withstand demanding offshore environments while simplifying installation and reducing lifecycle risk. Supported by decades of engineering expertise, the company’s solutions continue to evolve to meet the requirements of larger turbines, higher power export systems and increasingly challenging seabed conditions.

The Hollandse Kust West project further demonstrates Tekmar’s ability to support major offshore wind developments across Europe, working alongside leading developers, foundation manufacturers, cable suppliers and installation contractors.

Richard Turner, Chief Executive Officer of Tekmar, said:

“Seeing another major offshore wind project reach first power is fantastic for the industry and we’re proud that Tekmar technology has played a part in helping make that possible.

Every successful offshore wind farm reinforces the importance of protecting critical subsea infrastructure. With decades of experience and the industry’s most extensive track records, we continue to provide customers with trusted asset protection technology that reduces risk and ensures reliable transmission of offshore energy round the world.”
